For larger amounts, a wire transfer sends MORE of your donation to our partners and projects.

Credit card fees are almost three times more expensive than ACH fees. In fact, Stripe charges a 2.2% + $0.30 credit card fee for registered 501c3 nonprofits, while itsACH fee is only 0.80% and is capped at $5(i.e. if you donate above $625, the fee remains at $5).

Our Donorbox platform fee of 1.5% is capped at $25 for ACH bank payments. That means for an ACH donation that exceeds $1,667, the maximum platform fee we will charge for that donation is $25. In both scenarios, Donorbox charges a 1.5% transaction fee.

So, let’s take an example of a $1000 donation. If it is an ACH payment, the fee would be $20.30. If it is a credit card payment, the fee would be $38.73. Whether you or your donors pay these fees, the lower they are, the better.
